People with greater support needs who require constant support at home can consider supported independent living (SIL). SIL covers overnight support for NDIS participants.
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a shared living experience for people with disabilities who have SIL funding in their NDIS plan. NDIS participants can get 24-hour day-to-day support if SIL is included in their plan.
SIL covers support for:​
- Personal care needs such as getting out of bed, grooming and having a shower.
- Participating in domestic tasks for instance, cooking, laundry, housework and cleaning. Also, including outdoor activities like gardening, watering plants twice a day.
- Access social and community activities.
- Help with budgeting, money management, and grocery shopping nearby shopping centres.
