The SDA houses are designed to help people with disabilities live more independently while receiving high-quality support from their place of residence.
Is there any eligibility criteria for specialist disability accommodation (SDA)?
Yes, there are some conditions which the participants need to meet to apply for SDA such as:
- If the NDIS participants have a severe functional disability or very high support needs.
- If participants meet the specialist disability accommodation needs requirement and the NDIS funding criteria.
What are the categories of SDA?
Improved Liveability: NDIS participants who have sensory, intellectual, or cognitive impairments can use Improved Liveability of SDA. It offers support with vision impairment by increasing luminance contrast. We can install light based doorbells and fire alarms to provide help with navigation of physical space for people with disabilities.
Fully Accessible: NDIS participants with severe physical disabilities can be eligible for fully accessible SDA accommodations. It includes broad wheelchair-accessible entryways, reachable heights for home appliances, and electrical supply to the door and window frames so automation can be added later if necessary.
Robust: Robust is eligible for those NDIS participants with complicated behaviour and can put themselves at risk. It offers appropriate space for the participants to meet their needs and install impact-resistant materials to keep safe them from any mishappening.
High Supports: NDIS participants with severe physical impairments can be eligible for high support of SDA. It includes supportive technology, emergency power solutions, communication technology.
